Explore The Clearing during Interpretive Hikes

The 86-year history, folklore and landscape of The Clearing Folk School are the subjects of free, interpretive hikes to the historical campus and buildings led by volunteer docents on Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31. The two-hour hiking tours begin at 1 pm at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center, 12171 Garrett Bay Road in Ellison Bay. No advance registration is necessary. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended because the terrain is a bit rugged in places.

The visitor center’s bookstore and gift shop are open Monday– Friday, 8 am – 4 pm; plus Saturday and Sunday, 12-4 pm, through October. Visitors are also welcome at The Clearing’s historical campus area Saturdays and Sundays only, 12-4 pm. Pick up a map at the visitor center to take a self-guided tour.
