Explore the Impact of Light on Plant Growth

During the next Door County Master Gardeners Association educational lecture, Coggin Heeringa will explore how light influences plant growth, show how to make changes to protect night skies and, by extension, how to assist plants and their pollinators. This in-person presentation will be held March 9, 6:30 pm, at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.

Now serving as Crossroads’ interpretive naturalist, Heeringa became its director in 2001. During the years prior, as a member of the Sturgeon Bay Education Foundation, she was involved with developing the Crossroads preserve, and since 1967, she has spent summers at the Interlochen Arts Camp, where she teaches environmental studies.
