Express Yourself at Door County Open Mic Nights

All too often, we feel comfortable singing, dancing, or entertaining in the shower but fail to share our talents with the world. Maybe you think you’re not talented enough, maybe you’ve got butterflies in your stomach, or maybe you just don’t know where to go. Here’s your guide to participating and attending open mic opportunities.

The best way to get your feet wet is to attend an open mic as an observer. This way you will be able to get a feel for the crowd, venue and other artists; you might even find someone that blends with your style to do a partnered performance. Once you’re ready to jump on stage, be prepared with material. Whether you sing a cappella, tell a joke, play an instrument, read a poem, perform with a group, or share another talent, put passion in your act. Also, remember it is best to bring your own equipment – most open mics only provide the basics, usually a microphone.

There are many opportunities to express your musical or lyrical creativity in Door County. You’ll never know your true abilities until they’re expressed to others; so, let the butterflies loose and join these musicians at an open mic session.
