Expressive Techniques in Watercolor

“Cana Island Light” by Stacey Small Rupp.

Watercolorist Stacey Small Rupp will be the featured artist of the week at Cottage Row Gallery, June 28 – July 4. There will be a meet-the-artist reception on July 1, 1 – 3 pm. Small Rupp will also give a demonstration of her expressive techniques in watercolor.

Small Rupp has been painting the Door County landscape for more than 20 years. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design from the University of Wisconsin – Stout in 1992, she started painting with watercolors and never looked back. With a strong background in composition, she enjoys creating movement and balance in her paintings. Shorelines, trees and old barns with wildflowers are some of her favorite subjects as well as the ever-changing seasons.

Recently, Small Rupp has been accepted as a prospective member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society. She will have one painting entered in their exhibit this fall at Concordia University in Mequon, where members will vote to accept her as a new member. She will also teach her one-day workshop “Watercolor Made Simple” at The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay on July 14.
