Linden Gallery announces the opening of “Unforgettable: Faces of the East,” a solo exhibition by artist Susan Ploughe, who will be at the gallery on July 16 from 2 – 5 pm to meet the public. On July 24 from 2 – 4 pm, Ploughe will demonstrate on a work in progress at the gallery.
After many years of working as an illustrator and graphic designer, Ploughe turned to oil painting full time in 2002. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, where she has been juried into national and regional shows. Last summer, she was one of 40 artists invited to participate in the Door County Plein Air Festival. She will participate in the event this year as well.
While she enjoys painting a variety of subjects, Ploughe was inspired by the faces she saw on her three-week trip to the Linden Centre in southwest rural China. “I was surrounded by incredible scenery, and all I wanted to paint were the people,” she said. “So much character is written in a person’s face, and expressing that in paint is a constant challenge and delight.”
Linden Gallery, open 10 am – 5 pm daily, is located in at 12001 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay. For more information call 920.854.2487.
