Fairfield Art Center Offers Summer Internship

The Fairfield Art Center, located in the heart of historic downtown Sturgeon Bay at the corner of Michigan and Third, has announced that it is seeking an intern to work in its galleries and offices during the busy Door County summer season.

“The intern will work with me on exhibitions and assist in the administrative offices,” said Shan Bryan-Hanson, the Fairfield’s exhibitions director. “Most importantly, he or she will serve as gallery docent, responsible for greeting visitors, directing them to the artwork they wish to see and answering any questions they might have.”

Bryan-Hanson said the summer internship will offer an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the curatorial and business aspects of operating a not-for-profit arts organization, providing valuable job experience. She encourages anyone interested in applying for the position to contact her at 920.746.0001 or by e-mail at [email protected].

This summer, the Fairfield will showcase the works of nationally recognized Door County-based artists Wence Martinez, Sandra Martinez, Margaret Lockwood and Michael Doerr in its first-floor Main Gallery. The first exhibition, “Wence & Sandra Martinez: Presence” will launch on May 15 with a free opening reception. “Margaret Lockwood: Painted Spaces” will open on July 3, and “Michael Doerr: Contemporary Woodworks” will open August 21.
