Fall 50 Draws 2,600 Runners, Raises $30,000 for Charity

The Fall 50 Door County brought 514 relay teams and more than 100 solo runners to the 12th running of the race from Gills Rock to Sturgeon Bay Oct. 21.

Mark Jasper of Menominee, Mich., won with a time of 6:33:29, a 7:53 per mile pace. Carolyn Smith, Milwaukee, finished first on the women’s side (and fourth overall) with a time of 7:18:27, a 8:47 per mile pace. Runners battled gusting winds on a warm, sunny day in Door County.

The men’s team relay was won by the Ahmed Flyers, who finished in 5:18:36, while the female team relay was won by the Speedy Mennos, who finished in 6:21:06.

The race raised $30,000 for Door County charities, and brought more than 2,600 participants and their families from 25 states to Door County. The Fall 50 expanded this year to include a second race in Cape Cod, Mass., and is slated to add a third race in Traverse City, Mich., Oct. 13, 2018.
