Fall Challenge Announces King of the Hills Prizes

Competitors in the King of the Hills Challenge at the Peninsula Century Fall Challenge ride will have great prizes to compete for Sept. 15.

Female winners in five age groups will take home $50 gift cards from Spot, a Sister Bay clothing store. Male winners will take home $50 gift cards to Twisted Tree, a specialty clothing store located in Sister Bay’s Country Walk Shops.

In addition, overall winners will receive the Door County Brewing Company Polka King of the Hills jersey, free entry to the 2019 event, plus a one-night stay in a premier suite at Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay.

The King of the Hills challenge is a free competition open to all registrants who complete the 100-mile route at the event, which starts and ends at Sister Bay Waterfront Park. The challenge features three timed climbs – the Ephraim hill, Monument Point Road, and Lakeview Road.

Last year’s winners were Kyle Demerath and Katie Meyer.

The Peninsula Century Fall Challenge offers four routes on Door County’s rustic rural roads and along the shoreline, with rest stops featuring food, drinks, and bites from great local restaurants. The finish line includes a taco bar from Thyme Cuisine, Door County Brewing Co. beer and Tapuat Kombucha.

“We’re proud to showcase not only the great cycling routes of northern Door County, but also highlight some of our favorite restaurants that are growing the area’s food culture,” said director Myles Dannhausen Jr.
