Fall Clean-up Day at Newport Oct. 27

Each fall, those who enjoy the beauty and adventure provided by Newport Wilderness Park don their work gloves and sturdy shoes to gather at the park to help clean up. This special work day is sponsored by the members of Newport Wilderness Society (NWS). The 2018 fall clean-up day is Oct. 27, 8:30 am – 1 pm. Lunch will be provided (sign-up for lunch when you arrive).

This NWS invitation is open to everyone. Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops are especially welcome to join.

Wear work clothes, work gloves and don’t forget to carry a thermos of water. If you have extra rakes, brooms, loppers, and clippers, please mark them with your name and bring them with you. Also, if you have old rags for dusting/window cleaning, please bring them along.

The day begins at the maintenance building at 8:30 am. From there you will be assigned to specific tasks. The work day ends at 1 pm with a short break for lunch at noon.
