Fall Decorating Workshop at The Ridges

If the season’s crisp air and colorful foliage have you in the mood to bring fall into your home, The Ridges Sanctuary’s Fall Decorating Workshop on Nov. 1 can help. Beginning at 2 pm, this three-hour workshop will cover how to use flowers, plants, leaves, wood and other natural materials to create wreaths, swags, shadow boxes, picture frames and other items for your walls or holiday table. And using a nature theme will make it easier to transition from fall holidays to winter holidays. Crafting will be accompanied by a discussion of trees, seeds and the culture of wreath making. Materials are included in the workshop fee.

On Nov. 5 at 1 pm, join a Ridges naturalist for the second workshop in the Countdown to the Christmas Bird Count series. This hands-on workshop will focus on species and habitat identification and is designed to help prepare attendees for backyard birding as well as participation in the annual Christmas Bird Count which begins on Dec. 14.

Join geologist and Ridges staffer Brian Forest for a Geology Tour of Baileys Harbor on Nov. 7, 10 am to noon. Travel through 425 million years as this mini field trip makes stops throughout the Baileys Harbor area and The Ridges Sanctuary to explore key elements of geologic history.
