Fall Fest Soap Box Derby Is Back

Start your engines (or, rather, let gravity do the work) for the return of the Soap Box Derby during the 2021 Fall Fest in Sister Bay. Submitted.

Among the many events that are returning in 2021 is the Soap Box Derby on Oct. 17, 10 am, on Highway 42 in downtown Sister Bay. It will be part of the 75th annual Fall Festival, slated for Oct. 15-17. 

Girls and boys ages 7 to 13 may build (with adult assistance) and race their gravity-powered cars. The weight limit for the car, driver and wheels is 200 pounds. Mandatory pre-race inspections will be held at the race site Oct. 17, 8 am. Trophies will be awarded in the double-elimination event.

With fewer than 100 days to go, it is time to start building a new car or tuning up an existing car. New stock-car kits are available at soapboxderby.org. Drivers must submit registration forms (available at sisterbay.com) no later than Oct. 1.
