Fall Fest, the granddaddy of all Door County festivals, hits the streets in Sister Bay this weekend bringing with it a vast offering of live music, great food, drinks, children’s games and fun. But if the thought of large crowds sends you into a tizzy, don’t fret – there are plenty of other things to do on the peninsula this weekend. Below are our top picks for the weekend ahead:
Friday, October 16
Catch A Show
Haven’t had the chance to take in a comedy, musical or musical comedy yet this season? This weekend marks the last run for three productions at three different companies on the peninsula: Nunsense at Peninsula Players; Irving Berlin’s I Love A Piano at Third Avenue Playhouse; and Lumberjacks in Love from Northern Sky Theater (now showing at Door Community Auditorium).
Fall Fest in Sister Bay
Friday is the first day of the three-day festival, which will consume Sister Bay with a parade, arts and crafts fair, food booths, live entertainment, a “goat toss,” pumpkin bowling, a star gazing party and more!
Saturday, October 17
Meet Vera Bradley Co-Founders
Meet the co-founders of luggage design company Vera Bradley – Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Joan Bradley Reedy – today at Wilkins & Olander. The fundraising event will support Breast Cancer Research. 11 am.
The Great Pumpkin Trail at Potawatomi State Park
Bring the family to meet bats, owls and snakes created from jack-o-lanterns hiding along the park’s nature trail. The self-guided trail begins across from the nature center and warm cider will be provided. 6 pm.
WIFEE and the HUZz BAND at Florian II
Get up and groove to the sounds of beloved Door County band WIFEE and the HUZz BAND, a 10-piece old soul, Motown, rockabilly musical fusion led by Ruby James and Stephen Cooper at the Florian II in Baileys Harbor. 9 pm.
Shower‘oke’ at Pen Pub
Belt out your favorite tunes in the comfort of Peninsula Pub’s “shower,” complete with shower curtain and the encouragement of DJ Hope Reyes during Shower’oke.’ 9 pm.

Support the Go Bo! Foundation
Support the Go Bo! Foundation on its mission to fund research, support treatment, and help families with children facing life-threatening medical conditions during its annual bake sale, which features beautifully decorated cookies donated by more than 300 cookie artists from across the world.
Lawrence Guitar Studio Concert
Lawrence University’s Björklunden will host a free concert featuring the solos and ensembles of the studio, with a special focus on 19th and 20th century works. 1:30 pm.
Fall Colors at Big Creek Cove
Take in the fall colors and sights of waterfowl at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay during this one-hour naturalist led ramble through Big Creek Cove. 4:30 pm.
