Fall Lighthouse Festival Better Than Ever

The Door County Maritime Museum (dcmm.org) will host the Fall Lighthouse Festival Oct. 3-4: a weekend of air, land, boat and adventure tours that, together, will reach all 11 of the county’s treasured lighthouses. Many of the excursions are exclusive to the festival weekends and provide visitors with lighthouse access that is not typically available to the public.

There are tours for all levels of activity and accessibility, and boat tours depart from locations around the peninsula, including Sister Bay, Gills Rock and Baileys Harbor.

New this year is a tour of the Algoma Pierhead Lighthouse. Learn more about these guiding lights from festival docents at the Algoma Visitor Center, 1226 Lake St. in Algoma. Other new tours include a sunset schooner cruise that leaves from Sister Bay and a sunrise airplane ride out of Sturgeon Bay’s Cherryland Airport.
