“Families Helping Families” Concert at Shepherd of the Bay

On Sept. 16 at 4 pm, Judy and Carl Jackson will play their 9th annual two-piano benefit concert at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay. The theme of this year’s event is “Families Helping Families,” emphasizing the importance of lending support to a family in our community.

All proceeds from the freewill offering, as well as money raised from a silent auction, will benefit Sherry Wilson and her three daughters. This concert is offered as encouragement for Wilson’s health challenges.

The two-piano program features music of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, Eduard Holst, Igor Stravinsky, Francis Poulenc, Manuel Infante, Gregory Stone and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The Esther Browning Steinway concert grand piano (owned by the Peninsula Music Festival) has returned to its off-season home at Shepherd of the Bay, after spending an exciting three weeks at the Door Community Auditorium.

Peter Nehlsen’s Baldwin concert grand piano is also at the church for this concert—an intermediary stop on its homeward journey from performances at Birch Creek.

The concert is free, but a free-will offering will be collected. Seats are not reserved, but there is also space in the choir loft for a close-up view of the performers.

Shepherd of the Bay is located at 11836 Highway 42 in Ellison Bay. For more information call 920.854.2988.
