Family Art Day Jan. 18 at Peninsula School of Art

Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek hosts free, monthly Family Art Days September through May, usually on the third Saturday, 9 am – 12 pm. Drop in anytime!

Projects are most appropriate for ages three through 12, but family members of all ages may join in the art-making. The materials, inspiration and a little guidance are provided. Learn from one another, share in the fun and create works of art together.

On Jan. 18, 12:15-1 pm, meet exhibiting artist Michael Velliquette, a mixed-media artist and UW-Madison faculty associate. His hypnotic, cut-paper snakes seem to appear and disappear as they twist and writhe in a field of grass. Listen to snake stories, learn about animal camouflage, meet the artist and use paper and pattern to make your own colorful animal that simultaneously pops off the page and sinks into its surroundings. The program is free.
