Family Day at Door County’s Peninsula School of Art

Sculpture and drawing are the focus of the Family Art Day at Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek. The walk-in art program will take place October 15 from 9 am – noon and is free and open to families with children ages 3 to 17.

As with all of the Family Art Days, the event coincides with the exhibition on display in the school’s Guenzel Gallery. Families may take inspiration from the current exhibition, “All Fired Up: Contemporary Iron Sculpture,” which includes the cast iron works of nationally recognized sculptors from throughout the Midwest and Wisconsin, including Jim Rose of Door County. The exhibition also includes an educational series of photographs depicting an iron pour, which is the process used to cast iron.

Clay will be available for those interested in creating hand built sculpture and pastel will be the drawing medium.

Family Art Days are held the third Saturday of the month, September through May. The programs are sponsored by a grant from the Target Corporation.
