Family Programs at Crossroads at Big Creek

Family programs, appropriate for learners of all ages, are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 am during July and August at the Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

Crossroads continues their Friends Work Party on July 14 at 10 am. Volunteers are welcome at the weekly work parties to knock back some of the invasive plants which are found in the Big Creek Preserve. Meet at the parking lot of the Astronomy Campus. Bring water, gloves and loppers if you have them.

The July 17 family program, “Soar with Fantastic Flyers,” has participants search the migratory routes of hummingbirds, robins, orioles, whooping cranes and monarch butterflies. Meet in the Collins Learning Center.

On July 18, the family program is all about water. Explore our freshwater inland seas during “The Great Lakes.” Visit the creatures that inhabit these treasured lakes. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

On July 19, visit the 1890s Heritage Garden and observe the flowers, herbs, and vegetables which Wisconsin settlers grew and used for food, seasonings and home remedies. Meet at the garden gate.

The Collins Learning Center is located at 2041 Michigan Street, just east of the highway roundabout in Sturgeon Bay. Summer hours are 1-3 pm Tuesday through Saturday and during scheduled events. The Center is closed Sunday and Monday, but restrooms and trails are open.
