Family Programs at Crossroads

Family programs are offered at Crossroads at Big Creek on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10 am during July and August. These naturalist-led activities are rewarding for learners of all ages because nature is full of unexpected and miraculous events.

“Gift of the Glaciers” is the topic on July 10. Discover how the Great Lakes were formed and learn about the creatures that live in our own inland seas. Meet in the Collins Learning Center.                                                                                                                               

On July 11, families “Search for Butterflies,” by exploring the fields and gardens of Crossroads. Learn to use a hand lens and collecting net. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society meets on July 10 at 7 pm in the Stonecipher Astronomy Center, on the grounds of Crossroads. The meeting includes a video presentation, “Gravity & Spacetime,” introduced by Tom Minahan who also will present the “Learning the Night Sky” segment. Refreshments are provided and visitors are welcome.

The Collins Learning Center is located at 2041 Michigan Street, just east of the highway roundabout in Sturgeon Bay. Summer hours are 1-3 pm Tuesday through Saturday and during scheduled events. The Center is closed Sunday and Monday, but the restrooms and trails are open.
