Farewell To Summer

From the moment the sun droops below the trees at Camp David, and lightning-fingered, flat-picking Eric Lewis unleashes the beautiful instrumental epitaph “Prayer for Gladys,” it feels like summer is just leaving before we even got to know her. Fishstock’s Labor Day Weekend show is an annual tradition for many Door County residents, visitors and workers to say to summer: “Farewell,” “Until next year,” or “Good riddance.”

Eric and his friends light up the barn all night with amazing bluegrass, folk, and rock – the legendary and oft-rumored third set has lasted into the very wee hours. All this coupled with Dave Ellmann’s perennial hospitality (and sweet corn) make saying your goodbyes a lot sweeter, no matter how the summer has gone.
