Fatal Crash in Forestville

A 32-year-old Mexican national who was working in the area died during a one-vehicle crash on Mill Road between Old Elm Road and West Center Road in the Town of Forestville.

The Door County Sheriff’s Office, dispatched on April 14 at 3:46 pm, arrived on the scene to find the vehicle rolled over in a field, with a single victim lying in the ditch, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. The victim was unresponsive, and life-saving measures were started. The victim was transported by ambulance to Door County Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation indicated that the 2002 Nissan Xterra sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound on Mill Road when it veered onto the east shoulder. The vehicle then crossed over the southbound lane and struck the west shoulder, after which the vehicle overcorrected, crossing both lanes, and entered the east ditch, where it rolled over multiple times, ejecting the driver. The vehicle then came to rest on its roof in a plowed field east of the roadway.

The name of the deceased driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The section of Mill Road was closed while the crash was investigated, and it was reopened for normal traffic at 5:14 pm.

Emergency personnel from the Southern Door Fire Department, Southern Door First Responders, Door County Emergency Services and Door County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident, which remains under investigation.

No further information is being released at this time.
