Few Canvases Available

The 2014 Community Mosaic Project at the Hardy Gallery.

A limited number of canvases remain for public purchase
from the Community Mosaic Project at the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim.

This summer the Hardy Gallery continues its collaboration with the Artists Guild, Sturgeon Bay, and partnership with the community at large to present the 7th annual Community Mosaic Project. The project was unveiled to an eager crowd July 18 at the dockside gallery in Ephraim. Each canvas, measuring 6″ x 6″ and created by individuals of every age and talent, includes a hand-written statement from the artist. In total, 253 works were created, and a limited number remain available for public purchase.

“This year we were particularly impressed by the level of artistic excellence of the submissions,” said Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, executive director at the Hardy. “Door County is home to some awesomely creative and talented individuals which is why this project continues to be a terrific platform for us to celebrate and promote the visual arts.”

Now in its seventh year, the project opens annually for submissions in early spring with a community-wide call for art. Everyone is eligible to participate – novice or professional artists of any age. Canvases are available for purchase now, and the public is invited to do so by visiting the gallery in Ephraim on Anderson Dock, or by calling 920.854.5535. Canvases sell out quickly each year and are expected to sell out before the exhibit closes August 24 at 3 pm. For more information visit thehardy.org.
