Fiber Arts Gathering

The eighteenth biennial Sievers Gathering will be held Sept. 25 – Sept. 27 at Sievers School, 986 Jackson Harbor Road, Washington Island. All events are open to the public.

Two one-and-a-half-day workshops begin Sept. 25 at 2 pm and end Friday at 4 pm. They are “Landscape ‘Painting’ with Fabric” with Susan Hoffmann and “Surface Design on Paper” with Lorrie Grainger Abdo. The cost for these workshops is $185, including materials.

The yarn shop sale starts on Sept. 26 at 10 am with sale prices on selected yarns, books and supplies. A Friday afternoon workshop begins at 1 pm, “Willow Garlic Basket” with Jacki Bedworth at a cost of $55, including materials. The Friday evening program at 7:30 pm, “Parallel Threads that Parallel Life” features Sievers instructor, nationally recognized handweaver and professional dressmaker/designer Daryl Lancaster.

On Sept. 27, starting at 9:30 am is the fiber arts garage sale which features fiber art equipment and supplies including looms, spinning wheels, fabric and more, along with items for the home and even a boutique table. The day continues with vendors, demonstrations of various fiber arts by Sievers instructors and students, a show and tell of fiber arts made by Sievers students, a banquet and musical program.
