Fifth Annual DKBEP High School Home Construction Project

The Door Kewaunee Business & Education Partnership (DKBEP) hosted an open house and dedication ceremony to celebrate the construction of the fifth annual DKBEP High School Home Construction Project in Kewaunee. The program is an effort to grow the local construction industry’s skilled workforce while providing real-world learning experiences for area youth.

Twelve high school students representing Kewaunee, Algoma, Luxemburg-Casco, Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door school districts joined forces with the Door County Home Builders Association (DCHBA), Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC), and the DKBEP to construct a custom building during the 2011/12 school year. Participating students were involved in all aspects of residential construction and earned 16 credits for advanced placement in the Wood Tech Technical Diploma one-year program at NWTC.
