Final February Fest Concert is Feb. 25

The 2017 February Fest presented by the Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) will end Feb. 25 with a

concert featuring the low brass section of the Festival: Paul Bellino and Brad Ward on tenor/alto trombone; Terry Leahy, bass trombone; Charlie Schuchat on tuba. The 2 pm concert will be held at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay.

Bellino currently teaches at Vassar College and Our Lady of Lourdes High School. In addition to having an extensive private trombone studio, Bellino remains active in the community and region as a teacher and performer throughout the country.

Ward has been the second trombone of PMF since 2006. He is principal trombone with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestras.

Originally from Australia, Leahy has performed as a soloist in the UK, Finland, Australia, the U.S., South Africa and Austria. As an orchestral musician, Dr. Leahy has held a tenured position in the Finnish National Opera Orchestra and has performed as guest Principal Bass Trombone with the London Symphony, the Sydney Symphony, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Welsh National Opera and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Schuchat has performed and recorded with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony and Israel Philharmonic. In addition to being principal tuba of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Charles is a member of Tower Brass.

The program will include the music of Renwick, Bach, Haller, Schumann, Sousa, Bee Gees, and more. Full program details can be found at musicfestival.com.

A silent auction to benefit the February Fest will take place at the concert and includes lunch for four with Maestro Yampolsky at Chef’s Hat in August. Additionally, an opportunity to golf with the bass section of the orchestra will be up for bid. Pottery donated by Mink River Mud Slinger will round out the auction.

Tickets can also be purchased at the door starting at 1:30 pm on the day of the concert at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church.
