Final Free Community Dinner May 29

The final night of the Door County Meals Cooperative’s free community dinner program will be May 29. To ensure that those who are struggling still have access to healthful food, eight food pantries in the county – along with the Door County Community Foundation and United Way of Door County – have created the new Door County Food Pantry Coalition.

Contributions to the meals cooperative that have not already been budgeted or spent will be transferred to the coalition so that those dollars can continue to feed people of all ages during the ongoing pandemic.

The government does not pay for the Door County Food Pantry Coalition. It operates courtesy of generous donations from year-round and seasonal residents.

All of the member food pantries have committed to safety precautions to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, including “contactless” pickup. Clients are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask when visiting a pantry.

Clients may visit FeedDoorCounty.org to look through the list of food pantries, review what each one offers and see how they operate to decide which is best suited to their needs.
