Final Summer Exhibit

Painting by David Lacey.

Fine Line Designs Gallery’s Exhibit IV, the final summer exhibit, features painters David Lacey and Todd Voss, mixed media artist Darren Jones, and sculptor Gene Reineking.

Jones strives to evoke emotion and a sense of humanity in his work. Natural landscapes, gardens, flowers, and water heavily influence his work, due to fond memories of his mother’s gardens and how gently she tended to them.

Painting in a studio, with his photographs merely as a reference tool, Lacey says that he “doesn’t strive for photo-realism, but rather to capture a fleeting composition of light.” Lacey is influenced by the French Impressionists, the American Luminists, and the Group of Seven.

Voss, a landscape and still life artist, creates a peaceful series of work. “I don’t consciously try and integrate method from the meditation into my painting – it’s something that is bound to have an effect on whatever I do.”

Reineking has turned his focus from wood burls to stone, portraying his subjects with sparse, clean lines that allow the color and visual texture of the materials to support his designs. “If you can feel the movement of a bird or you feel the need to trace the curve of a bowl with your hand, then that work is a success,” he says.

Fine Line’s Exhibit IV is scheduled to run through Sept. 12. For more information visit finelinedesignsgallery.com or call 920.854.4343.
