Final Sunset of 2018

Crossroads at Big Creek’s 2019 educational theme will be “The Great Lakes.” Crossroads will join a number of other organizations this winter that are focusing their programming on the Great Lakes as part of Celebrate Water Door County, a year-long series of activities to celebrate Door County’s water.

Crossroads continues its winter programming with the family program “Winter Birds” on Dec. 28, 10 am. Learn about the birds that live on or around the water with films and demonstrations. The program takes place in the lecture hall of the Collins Learning Center. Then at 2 pm, enjoy a showing of the WPT documentary Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Door Countyin the Collins Learning Center.

Close out the end of 2018 with a hike on Dec. 31 at 3:45 pm. Participants will hike to the Utah Street bridge, weather cooperating, and watch the final sunset of the year over The Cove. Hikers should be back by dark. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

Start off the new year with a hike to Ida Bay on Jan. 1, 11 am. Start your 2019 bird list, or keep your resolution to get more exercise. The hike will last about an hour. Meet at the parking area at the Canal Road /Indian Trail intersection.

The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, is open 2-4:30 pm daily and during scheduled activities. All programs are free and open to the public.
