Fine Art Fair Award Winners Announced

Jewelry artist Daniel Jara was awarded Best in Show.

The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center recently announced the winners of the 15th annual juried Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair, held May 25 & 26 in Sunset Park.

In the two-dimensional category, photographer Jim Finnerty took the first place award, and second place was awarded to painter Annette Renee Wimmer.

In the three-dimensional category, Nancy Briggs (ceramic) won first place, while Scott Schmidt (ceramic) placed second.

Jim Finnerty (center) won first place in the 2-dimenstional category and the People’s Choice Award.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Donna Mundschau (fiber), Ryan Myers (ceramic), Don & Dawn Wood (wood), Mike Dodson (ceramic), Jim Becia (photography), Carmel & Michael Schramm (jewelry), Jill Tortorella (ceramic), Wilfred Fang (painting), Art Bartowiak (painting), and Gisela Magdelena (painting).

Jewelry artist Daniel Jara won the Best of Show award, and painter Jim Finnerty won the People’s Choice Award. The second annual art fair purchase award went to Jim Becia (photography).

Judge Cheryl Stidwell Parker stated, “The diversity of media and message was remarkable. The level of skill in expression, the skill in execution, as well as the unique, the unexpected, the surprise element were all the criteria I needed to select award recipients. Congratulations to the winners, and to the organizers for a lovely day!”
