Fine Line Designs Gallery Announces Exhibit III

“Beggars’ Club” by Pamela Murphy.

Two women with entirely different mediums and artistic perspectives are pairing up for Fine Line Designs Gallery’s third exhibit of the 2010 season. Featuring the work of ceramic artist Stephanie Evans and oil painter Pamela Murphy, Exhibit III’s Artist Reception is set for Thursday, July 8 from 4 – 7 pm, with the exhibit running through Monday, August 2.

Just like a writer crafts characters and feelings through the medium of words, Stephanie Evans creates history and stories using garments. “I chose clothing, mainly the dress form, as my conceptual vehicle to tell these life stories,” said Evans. “Clothes are functional, but are also an expression of an individual.”

Pamela Murphy found her inspiration for her oil paintings while sifting through a series of old photographs she had discovered at a garage sale. “I could understand how they ended up there – if someone is unable to remember, the people in the photographs eventually become strangers,” she said. Wanting these memories to live on, Murphy started to use the figures from the images as her “models.”
