Fine Line’s First Exhibit Highlights Women Artists

Fine Line Designs Gallery and Sculpture Garden’s first exhibit of the season combines the creative power of embroidery and fiber artist Martha Fieber, oil painters Kathleen Eaton and Sherri Thomas, and mixed-media artist Patty Carmody Smith. It will open May 27, with an opening reception featuring the artists set for May 28, 4-6:30 pm. Carmody Smith will also be part of an artist demonstration May 29, 11 am – 1 pm.

Fieber wows gallery-goers with her “landscapes in thread,” in which she uses her background in engineering and mechanical design to put a twist on traditional hand-embroidery techniques as she shapes forests, fields and flowers.

Eaton’s oil paintings focus on portraits, figurative works and landscapes that catch moments in time.

Landscapes remain Thomas’ favorite subject, and it’s even better when she gets to paint outside. She seeks to create expressive, compelling work that conveys beauty.

In producing a wide range of bright, vibrant work – from textured mosaics to bird- and figure-focused sculptures – Carmody Smith relies on both intuition and discipline to realize an idea and then practice or learn the skills she needs to carry it out.

Exhibit I will be on display through July 4 at Fine Line Designs (finelinedesignsgallery.com), 10376 Hwy 42 in Sister Bay.
