First Baptist Continues Thanksgiving Dinner Tradition

After a two-year absence, folks in northern Door County will again be able to enjoy a church-sponsored Thanksgiving dinner at no charge. First Baptist of Sister Bay will host the dinner in the Fellowship Hall on Nov. 22, 1 pm. Many guests can be accommodated, however reservations are required in advance. Carry-out meals will not be available.

First Baptist is carrying on a tradition established by Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, which hosted the community-wide gathering for many years. The event is an outreach to those who might otherwise be alone for the holiday, those whose extended families are not close by, or those for whom it would be difficult to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. The meal is served from a buffet, but volunteers are on hand to provide table service if needed.

The meal is offered at no charge. If anyone attending wishes to make a donation, funds received will be divided between church-sponsored food pantries in Door County. Call the church office at 920.854.2544, ext 10 no later than Nov. 15 to reserve a place.
