First Friday Artwalk Scheduled in Sturgeon Bay

In hopes of starting a community tradition in Sturgeon Bay, HELP of Door County, Inc. is working with downtown businesses to pilot First Friday Artwalk gatherings. The initial First Friday Artwalk is set for October 7, 5 – 8 pm.

First Friday Artwalks are held on the first Friday of every month at galleries and businesses in many downtown communities across the country. The main objective is to showcase area businesses and give everyone a chance to participate in a community-wide social event.

Sturgeon Bay’s first event will include snacks and musical performances by local artists such as Jess Holland, Emery Thorn, Elliot Goettelman, Ryan Moreno, pat mAcdonald, Richard Whitney, and youth group members of U-Night from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County.

Initial participants on Third Avenue include The Dancing Bear, Greco Gallery, Gwendolyn’s, “Untitled” Used & Rare Books, AMO Gallery and Framery, Door County Music Company, Sherry’s Hallmark, Door County Confectionary, Inn at Cedar Crossing, On Deck Clothing Company, Small World Market, Door County Traders, and Peninsula Jeweler on the west side of Sturgeon Bay.

Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the staff of HELP of Door County is also planning to distribute information on domestic abuse prevention, and other free fun giveaways.
