First Range Light Repairs Completed, More Planned

The Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands (FOPPI) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have completed Phase I of repairs, rehabilitation and restoration of both of the historical range lights.

This eight-week, $235,000 project was made possible by FOPPI donors, as well as grants from the David L. and Rita E. Nelson Family Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, and several Door County Community Foundation funds: the John and Nell Herlache Community Impact Fund, the Kerley Family Foundation Fund, and the Ruth and Hartley Barker Memorial Fund.

Phase II, estimated at $125,000, will complete the restoration work, but additional funds are needed in order to schedule this project for 2022.
