First Snow Causes Non-injury Accident

The season’s first few inches of accumulated snowfall came Sunday afternoon – and with it, snow-covered, slippery road conditions. 

The Ephraim Fire Department was dispatched Sunday at 3:45 pm, just after the snow began to fall heavily, to the site of this single-vehicle accident on Highway 42 in Ephraim. Fire Chief Justin MacDonald said the driver was probably driving too fast for conditions. 

“He was pulling a rather large work trailer, and it came around on him and sent him into the ditch,” MacDonald said. 

The driver – a contractor working in northern Door County and not a local resident – sustained no injuries, MacDonald said.
