Fish Creek Presents Jack-O-Lantern Days

Fish Creek is celebrating Halloween with a family-friendly weekend chocked with activities with the first-annual Jack-O-Lantern Days, which will run from Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1.

“Halloween is such a popular, fun holiday that we felt it was a great opportunity to feature treats for both our visitors and our locals,” said Bonnie Smith, who is co-chairing the event with fellow Fish Creek Civic Association board member Bonnie Spielman.

The village of Fish Creek will feature activities for the young and young at heart. Peninsula State Park is offering a tour of the historic Pioneer Cemetery in Peninsula State Park on Friday, October 30, and the Park’s Nature Center will also offer special programs for children throughout the weekend.

Other activities abound, including the Top of the Hill Shops’ “Halloween Safewalk” trick-or-treat event, trolley ghost tours throughout the Town of Gibraltar on both Friday and Saturday evenings, fall treats available at Orchard Country Winery and Market, a “Day of the Dead” exhibit at the Peninsula School of Art, and a costumed pet parade at Founder’s Square.

“Several years ago Fish Creek had a pet parade for Halloween, but it faded away for a bit.  So we are thrilled to get it going again,” said Jeri Taylor, pet parade chair.  “We certainly don’t want to leave our furry friends out of the festivities.”

Many Fish Creek shops will also features end-of-the-season sales, and the weekend will cap off with a Halloween party at the Bayside Tavern. The party is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to dress up and join in the fun.
