Fish, Fun and Festivities Await at Death’s Door

On Saturday, February 16, from 4:30 pm until bar close, in conjunction with Washington Island’s Annual Ice Fishing Derby, Death’s Door Spirits will be hosting a party at The Granary Bar and KK Fiske Restaurant in celebration of the release of their new whisky. Besides an unveiling of the whisky and spirits tasting, the Appleton-based band Blend 7 will be playing and Death’s Door drink specials will be featured all night.

“This whisky is an exciting project for us,” explains Death’s Door Spirits President, Brian Ellison. “It allows us to show off the exceptional flavor and quality of the wheat that we use from Washington Island and has a smooth drinkability that comes from distilling in small batches on a copper pot still.”

This will be the first time the public will have the opportunity to taste the new product, an un-aged variety of American Whisky that has been much anticipated in the market. They have called the product the “Impatient” Whisky because so many people have been asking them to produce it.

Ellison commented that starting on the Island is a natural first step in bringing their whisky to the larger Wisconsin market, “The people of Washington Island are always first in line to enjoy our spirits and we appreciate their support.”

He then smiled and added, “They also know how to throw a good party!”

Inspired by the legendary “Death’s Door” waterway between Washington Island and the Door County Peninsula, Death’s Door Spirits are small-batch vodka, gin and whisky made with care, pride and a special kind of wheat grown only on Washington Island. The exceptional bouquet of Death’s Door Gin also features wild juniper berries and Wisconsin botanicals. Created by Chef Leah Caplan of The Washington Hotel, Restaurant & Culinary School, Death’s Door Vodka, Gin and Whisky complement perfectly the flavors of Great Lakes cuisine.

Following this event, Death’s Door will be rolling out their “Impatient” Whisky throughout the state and the Chicago market. In Wisconsin, Death’s Door Vodka, Gin, and Whisky are distributed by General Beverage and Saratoga Wine & Spirits, in Chicago, their distributor is Wine-O-Rama.
