Fishstock Hosts Mal-O-Dua

Madison’s Isthmus magazine has called the sound of Mal-O-Dua “one of the most eclectic in town.” Door County music fans can get a taste for themselves July 31 when the duo takes the stage at Fishstock.

Mal-O-Dua draws from French swing, Hawaiian slack key, and Parisian waltz to produce a sound you won’t hear anywhere else this summer. Expect a high-energy acoustic show, peppering in historical anecdotes about the music they present to give it context.

The duo features Cedric Baetche and Chris Ruppenthal. Baetche supplies the cracking voice of their songs while both bring extraordinary fingerpicking skills to their strings. Baetche hails from Reims, France, Ruppenthal from Madison, Wisconsin. Their varied backgrounds create a musical experience that’s hard to forget.

On Aug. 7, Fishstock welcomes the mountain ballads and folk storytelling of Tim Grimm and Carolyn Carter. Carter’s voice and guitar are authentically heartwarming as she tells of life in the Arkansas mountains. Grimm is her Midwest counterpart telling of life and times in the Midwest.

Fishstock features the best in bluegrass, folk and jazz music every Sunday night in a century-old dairy barn on County F in Fish Creek. All shows start at 7 pm, and tickets can be reserved in advance at fishstockmusic.com.
