“Fit in Fitness” Part of America on the Move Week

David Hobler, founder and director of Fit In Recovery, will be a featured speaker promoting the importance of sustaining and enhancing personal well-being during the Door County YMCA America on the Move Week.

Hobler, who has been nationally featured on television, radio and numerous publications including Runners World, wears many hats including Trial Lawyer, Mediator, Legal Educator and Environmental Health Consultant. In addition to his legal work, he has also spent numerous years in chemical dependency treatment after overcoming his own addiction to alcohol through physical fitness.

Hobler found a link between exercise and his road to recovery and sobriety. In short, the more he ran, the stronger his hold on sobriety grew. To share his learning and discipline with others, Hobler founded Fit In Recovery, a health and education-consulting group, which he currently directs. Though Hobler’s work primarily focuses on recovering from addiction by taking action with physical activity, he also speaks on overall well-being and the importance of wellness in everyone’s life.

Hobler resides in Mill Valley, California most of the year, but has been a longtime seasonal Door County resident for 66 years. Still an avid runner, biker and swimmer today, Hobler placed first in his age division for the short course of the 2008 Door County Triathlon in July.

During his speaking engagements at the Door County YMCA, Hobler will be focusing on being “Fit in Fitness” and sustaining and enhancing well-being. He will share his inspirational story with the community as he focuses on the importance of discovering a path to achieving overall wellness. David is happy to be helping the Door County YMCA spread the America On the Move message to “Get Moving.”

Hobler will be speaking at the Northern Door Program Center on Monday, September 22 at 10 am and Thursday, September 25 at 6 pm and at the Sturgeon Bay Program Center on Tuesday, September 23 at both 10 am and 6 pm. Contact the YMCA Program Centers to reserve your spot at one of these free programs at 920.868.2300 in Fish Creek or 920.743.4949 in Sturgeon Bay. Space is limited.
