Door County Medical Center Flu Clinic Canceled Due to Vaccine Shortage

The national influenza vaccination supply is in short supply, resulting in the Oct. 20 Flu Clinic cancellation at Door County Medical Center (DCMC).

The Oct. 19 flu vaccine clinic scheduled by the Door County Public Health Department at the Door County Fairgrounds will continue as scheduled.

Due to overwhelming demand across the United States, the influenza vaccine supply at DCMC is near depletion. While there are additional doses on order, the shipment is not guaranteed when supplies are so greatly limited. DCMC leadership is actively working to secure more doses to be shipped to the facility, however this shortage is affecting the entire country, and this will negatively affect access to what minimal supplies are available. The supply situation will be assessed early next week to determine the status of the future scheduled clinics.

Local pharmacies may have doses of flu vaccination available; however, the strong demand may cause them to run out as well.  If you can find a source for the flu shot, it is advised that you take that opportunity to receive your vaccination.
