FOPPI Funds Plum Island Restoration

The Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands (FOPPI) is funding the restoration of the Plum Island Live-Saving Station. An 1896 structure, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only surviving Duluth-type life-saving station on the Great Lakes.

The front porch of the Plum Island Life-Saving Station was recently stabilized, but $3,000 is needed to finish the porch. Contributions may be sent to Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands, PO Box 61, Washington Island, WI, 54246.
