Forestville-Maplewood Lions Complete Deer-hide Collection

The Forestville-Maplewood Lions have just completed their Door County deer-hide collection. The hides were donated by resident hunters, Marchant’s Foods of Brussels and Birnschein’s Custom Meats of Valmy. This year the project collected more than 1,200 hides.

Each donated hide is preserved with salt and stored until a buyer is sent from the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. After a price is determined, all funds are donated to the Lions Camp in Rosholt, Wis. Last year, the Lions collected more than 10,000 hides statewide, which netted the camp more than $70,000.
