Former Gov. Schreiber to Speak About Alzheimer’s

Martin (Marty) Schreiber, Wisconsin’s 39th governor, will present an Alzheimer’s support message at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County, 10341 Water St. (Hwy 42) in Ephraim, on Sept. 18, 10 am. All are welcome.

Schreiber will share his 18-year experience of watching his wife, Elaine, transform into a person who no longer recognizes him and their children. His message for fellow caregivers is that there is hope in the sorrow and strength in knowing that you are not alone. Schreiber will share what he wishes he’d known sooner and done differently as a caregiver. He’ll also include many moments of humor and joy because he believes that without laughter, caregivers cannot survive this journey.

Schreiber is the author of My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver. Net proceeds from book sales will be used to promote Alzheimer’s caregiver-support programs. Find more details at mytwoelaines.com.
