Fossils, Fur and More at Crossroads at Big Creek

Families and learners of all ages are invited to the next Saturday Science program at Crossroads at Big Creek on Jan. 21. Drop in anytime between 1 pm and 4 pm to learn about Door County’s fossils, hunt for fossils in Crossroads’ exhibits and create a model to take home. Each participating family will also receive a free Door County fossil pamphlet. Meet in the lab of the Collins Learning Center.

The Quantum Revolution lecture series will continue Jan. 21, 1-4 pm, with Tom Minahan. These lectures follow the theoretical and experimental development of quantum physics and the quantum nature of matter and energy. Register at quantumrevolution.eventbrite.com. A virtual option is also available; request a Zoom link by emailing [email protected].

Join the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society on Jan. 21 for a viewing night starting at 5:30 pm. Explore the night sky from the Star Garden with the society’s new telescope. In case of inclement weather, planetarium shows will be offered in the Stonecipher Astronomy Center.

Preschool-aged children and their companions will meet for the next Junior Nature Club on Jan. 25, 10 am, at the wildlife exhibit on the lower level of the Collins Learning Center. Participants will learn how animals stay warm in the winter, and if weather conditions permit, the group will explore outdoors as well.
