Fractal Photographer

“Forever and Always” by Carol Pflughoeft.

Plum Bottom Pottery & Gallery is excited to show the latest work from Wisconsin photographer Carol Pflughoeft. This Wisconsin artist alters her original photographs using mathematical equations based on fractal patterns to create unique and vibrant imagery.

She calls her work fractal photography, incorporating her original images of flowers or landscapes and layers in repeating pattern of color and texture based on fractals patterns.

Fractals appear all around us in nature – they can be seen in cloud patterns, tree forms, lightning bolts or the shape of a nautilus shell. Fractals have been defined as β€œthe repeating patterns that define nature.” It is a universal mathematical language seen throughout the natural world, which Pflughoeft incorporates with mastery in her artwork.

Plum Bottom is open daily May to October, 10 am – 5 pm. To visit, go 15 minutes north of Sturgeon Bay or five minutes south of Egg Harbor on scenic Highway 42, then east on Plum Bottom Road to 4999 Plum Bottom Rd. For more information visit PlumBottomPottery.com.
