Framed: Sweet Smiles and Honey

The Door County Beekeepers Club shared its apiary at Crossroads at Big Creek during the Aug. 29 POLLENPOLOOZA, when the fields were alive with wildflowers, butterflies and honeybees. Beekeepers demonstrated the tools of the beekeeping trade, and visitors had a chance to get nose to nose with the inner bee frames of an observation hive to watch the worker bees tend to their brood. The beekeepers also extracted honey using the flow-hive method. Everyone left with a sweet smile on their face and a jar of honey. Photo by Gretchen Schmelzer.
