Free Airplane Rides for Young Eagles Day

The EAA Chapter from West Bend presents another Armed Forces and EAA/Young Eagles Day at Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport on June 2. Free airplane rides for kids ages 8-17 include instruction before and during the flight. Before take-off, pilots explain what will take place during the flight including review of aeronautical charts, identifying reference points, preflight inspection and the plane controls. Once in the plane the pilot helps with safety belts and goes over the interior of the plane, including the control panel. During flight passengers may have the opportunity to take the controls. All flights last between 15 and 20 minutes.

The program runs from 9 am to 2 pm. Lunch is provided by Alexander’s Restaurant and is free to Young Eagles, their parents, and all military veterans. A rain date is scheduled for June 3. The Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport is located at 9665 Maple Grove Road in Fish Creek.
