Free Family Programs Offered at Crossroads

To encourage outdoor activities and learning, Crossroads at Big Creek offers free family programs Monday through Thursday at 1:30 pm (rain or shine) throughout the summer. While these activities are designed for young people, learners of all ages are welcome.

On June 19, “Our Magnetic Sun” begins with the showing of the video 3-D Sun followed by hands-on activities relating to the sun and its energy.

On June 20, a short lesson on fossils will be followed by a creek-side fossil hunt. Wear clothes that can get wet.

On June 24, families will explore the “cave” in the Escarpment Display in the Collins Learning Center as they learn about the geology of The Niagara Escarpment.

On June 25, join the summer educator in a capture/release activity studying caterpillars, butterflies and other insects of the fields and meadows at Crossroads.

These programs are free and open to the public. Participants should meet at the Collins Learning Center. The Collins Learning Center is open daily 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Hikers and walkers are encouraged to explore on or off-trail and pets are permitted if on leash and under control. For more information visit crossroadsatbigcreek.com.
