Free Hikes to Begin at The Clearing

The Clearing Folk School is once again offering free, docent-led hikes covering the 80-year history, folklore and landscape of the school and its 128-acre property. These interpretive hiking tours will visit the historic buildings and campus, which are on the National and State Historic Registers, led by our volunteer docents. The approximate two-hour hikes begin at 1 pm on most Saturdays and Sundays starting May 16, during the Ellison Bay Arts Spring Art Crawl weekend, through the end of July. No pre-registration is necessary. Tours begin at 1 pm from The Clearing’s Jens Jensen Visitor Center, located at 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay, where maps are also available for self-guided tours. The terrain is rugged in places, and sturdy walking shoes are highly recommended.
