There are topics to interest all green thumbs, and aspiring green thumbs, in the Door County Master Gardeners free Continuing Education Programs on February.

On Feb. 11, Laura Kahles will present “Mushroom Gardening and Forest Farming.” Kahles, staff environmentalist at Field and Forest Products in Peshtigo, Wis., will introduce basic mushroom cultivation techniques as well as discuss substrate, strain and tool selection.

Learn about the “Ferns of Door County” on Feb. 18. Gary Fewless, botanist from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, will focus his presentation on the ferns that grow naturally in Door County and if time permits include information on related plants such as horsetails and club mosses.

“Professional Landscape Design,” on Feb. 25, will provide participants with information about the iterative landscaper-customer design process. Greg Meissner, co-owner of Meissner Landscape, Inc., will be the presenter.

All programs are free, open to the public, and begin at 7 pm at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.
