Free Storytelling Lab with Paula Carter Sept. 19

The 2019 Washington Island Literary Festival’s Creative Lab will focus on the art of telling stories, and Paula Carter, author of the flash-memoir collection No Relation, will lead it.

During the free Creative Lab, which is open to the public, participants will explore how to tell a great story and discuss the difference between telling a true story and writing one. Creative exercises will help participants find interesting stories from their own life, and they will spend some time developing one of the ideas.

The Creative Lab will be held Sept. 19, 1-3:30 pm, at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center. An optional brown-bag lunch at 12 pm will allow everyone to get to know each other better. All participants are also invited to the festival’s dessert reception and open mic Sept. 20 at the Farm Museum, where they can share the stories they worked on.
